Dumpster Diving

As we've mentioned before, this has been a very hot summer in New York City. And if you read our "Reality Check" post, you may have noticed the amount garbage in the streets. I think we now know why the garbage has no place to go. They are using the dumpsters as swimming pools!



Okay, actually these dumpsters are clean and were turned into small swimming pools for an NYC event called Summer Streets. Basically they closed off Park Avenue to traffic and only allowed pedestrians and bikers.



At one of the "rest stops" Whole Foods had set up a market where they were giving away items like cheese, fruit, carrots, iced coffee, energy bars, yogurt, and sorbet!





Oh yes, free lemon sorbet!

The Summer Streets event lasts three Saturdays in a row so we plan to go back. We haven't yet decided if we are going to take a dip in the dumpster pools.
